  • Or:

    "Who's nicked my hubcaps?"

  • or:
    "got any garys"

  • Bought 4 tickets to Chelsea v Middlesborough in a chariteeee auction and took some football-loving mates and father-in-law. Sat in the Shed end thingy. Chelsea - quite crap, Middsbro very crap never looked like scoring. My overlying thought while sitting there was wish I was at Saracens instead getting cold watching rugby like I usually do. Complete waste of money but it was for Chariteeeeee....

  • good effort in going and in sticking it out, because as we all know, chelsea are cunts.

  • I'm havin Everton 2-1 tonight, extra time

  • Hats off Mickyc. anyone who sits through 90 mins of Chelsea deserves respect. its akin to seeing the entire 3 series of 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps in one sitting

  • OMG Pistantor quoting a Liverpool manager without a tirade of abuse, whatever next, lol!

He was sat wearing this when he typed it

  • Corney dear chap, if football was not partisan, where would be the fun in it?

    • enough

It is the very fabric of football, it's what makes you sing loader and feel sicker when your arch rivals get one over you, its the second score you look for when the results come in and the reason you feel affiliated with your fellow supporters.

It would be rugby without it and how fucking shit is that! one song sung by fool hardy pricks in sweaters

  • partisanship is fine, expected, relied on, but when it blinds to all else it just becomes so much dead weight and we become the football equivalent of religious zealots.
I would say when fans start bringing up tragedies, heysel, hillsborough, munich as a way of getting one over on the opposition it becomes a bit too much,
and when you can't even acknowledge that you may have been beaten far and square then partisanship isn't worth the support it supposedly engenders.

but hey just my two cents.

  • the result on sunday will give us the re newed confidence we need to go on another run
just like at the beginning of the season pull ahead of man utd once again
if only we could beat them at theirs in feb / march
    everton tonight
another close one no doubt cahill to score from a corner probably ( unless we have learnt by our mistakes ) but torres and gerrard to score and put us through to the next round
this one is at goodison after the last two at anfield the extra attacking effort to be put in by everton will be their undoing hopefully.

  • I tend to agree with Corny on this somewhat. I have, in some of my posts tried to be less partisan and blinkered than some people on this thread ( no names, but you know who you are! ) and give honest assesments of Liverpool. But it has kind of failed.

And yes we do go out riding together, some of us, but most of what I say is in jest and I really aint taking anything too seriously.

So Chelsea are a shite club with no history and Everton are a small defensive team managed by something from Lord of the Rings and are going out tonight. Man Utd are just scum and Tottenham are going down. Don't have too many bad things to say about Arsenal, except thy seem to have lost their spirit over the last 2 years and now resemble something like a band of strangers than a team and probably won't win anyhting again for a long while!

    Bye

  • Good point CB, those tragedies are off the pitch and are a should be remembered with respect for those who died, but as much as those events pull a team and it's supporters tighter together, it provokes the opposition to go one step further to get to their opposition.

I remember being at a manc Derby and hearing the Man U fans singing this great tune about Matt Busbys babes then the City fans retorting with:

"9 of them died so they fielded 5 a side in the MUUNICH AIIR DIS-SAAASTER"
To the tune of English Country garden, Completely wrong but very very very funny.

    ;)
    Fixed

I'd agree with parts of that, Arsenal lack a leader and experience but are massively over achieving given their squad. Liverpool are massively under achieving given their spend and reliant are on 2 players, Newcastle are pointless, Spurs think they can buy success and Chelsea lack any heart.

I still fancy Everton tonight, they have put a lot in and not had the luck with the results, i can see this swinging their way with new boy Jo netting the winner

    • enough

Speaking of arch rivals, where are you watching the game on Sunday? Corny, you up for a bit of derdy acction as well?

  • ok ok so i am a tad biased in my opinions of liverpool
but why not we seem to be doing better than at any time in the last 20 years ( according to benitez ) 8 points better than last season 2 points behind the leaders
i have to believe after years of seeing the manc scum win the title so many times ( they now stand just one championship behind the all time winning-est team ) i really need to see us do it
it would make the naughties 00's for me !

i'll try not to be too partisan in my future posts .... i'll try to be more realistic !

Jo's cup tied, he played in the 3-0 spanking by Forest

    A good Munich song was:

"Always look on the runway for ice, du du, du du dud du du du...."

To the tune of 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life'

    Another

"Who's that dying on the runway, who's that dying in the snow, it's Busby and his boys making all the fucking noise cos they can't get the aeroplane to go!"

There's another but that's even worse.....

    Coat...........

  • mobbster, derby action would be great, but I've got people coming down to the old smoke doing a brunch thing, so probably won't be able to make it...

keep the offers coming mobbster, I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with you at one of the mighty tottenham's games soon enough...

  • as is the way on the forum, you make a point, and it gets drowned in jokes...

pisti I blame you for dragging down the tone ;-P

anyway on with the football banter and joking support.
    Come on you Spurs!!!!

Hopefully robbie and luka in the berbatov dropping deep roll will click and we'll rol up the table, losing to bolton on the weekend was a kick in the nuts, and what does Bent have to do to prove to Harry that he's as good as any of the other strikers he's got.

Bit pissed about arseshaving, going to arsenal, when we wanted him so desperately during the summer. But hey, I'm hoping he turns into a pires rather than a hleb. Saw Pires on the spanish football playing for villareal, and he's still class, even though he makes a ballerina look their feet are straight...

  • Where you watchin' the match, Graham? You in London? I'd love to watch this game in your company at the Effra... Up for it, Corny? Scouse Kev's a toffee an' all... T'would be a riot... ;D

  • If I'm back from the shires in time, I'll meet up for some action.

  • @Pistator - Class ;)

Speaking of arch rivals, where are you watching the game on Sunday? Corny, you up for a bit of derdy acction as well?

Pink -I'd be up for that, i am hitting RP for some laps in the morning, kick off at 13:30 any ideas?

  • I was thinking Musswell Hill as that is a good split between fans. The O'neils is good for the football. This could be a bit of a treck for you though.

  • Davenport???? ;(.......Tal Ben Haim????? ;>).....we will see.....any fucker is better than Nuggsy like.

Chopra, Djouf and Chimbo out??? Fucking trouble making arse holes!!! Fuck em!

Still not sure about Sbragia, but I think we'll stay up either way....new gaffer (Jol) in the Summer anywho!

Baggies, Hull and Boro down and out for me! Stoke and the Scumcastle barely scraping through.

I'm in Paris so gutted, having a nightmare trying to find anywhere showing it cios it's on ITV, they only show cable/Sky games, obviously not UK terrestrial games

Back from Paris Feb 13th for good, can't fuckin wait!!

That Dioufs a horrible cunt - threatening his own player with a blade?! Tit! Rio should've cracked a bottle round his face like he did with that fella outside Faces!

LOVE to see Boro go down, but the Toon would be the icing on the cake - could see Pompey getting into trouble too
