My top tip.
Wear bright/reflective clothing (ie. dont rely on bike lights).
Last year I wiped out and ended up in the middle of the road, with my bike about 10m away in a ditch. I quickly realised that the fancy twin front , twin back, lighting system on my bike was'nt going to help me much. Struggled in bike shoes to stand up and started walking diagonally across the (virtually unlit) road. Heard a car coming and had no chioce but to throw myself into the same ditch my bike had ended up in. Scary stuff.
Dayglo jackets FTW!
Also if the ground temp is over 0 in london. Then during the day the bottom layer of snow could melt, then refreeze tonight. tomorrow the snow could look identical to today, yet hide a near unridable ice layer underneath. This happens a lot were I live.

have to leave in 30mins. To the snow peeps that have already been out: Fix with 23c or singe speed with 32c? I'm leaning to the single speed.
Fixed, dude! More control, less worry about iced brakes

Fun ride to work today! No problems, taking it easy (riding 25 & 23). Lovely without much cars about.
Jumped on the 8 freight and the damn fat 20" tyres slide around like crazy.
Only 1 comical fall (so far) and a dodgy moment in front of a truck that didn't want to give me any space. -

Went out to watchthe football yesterday, then on for a curry before riding home in the snow. Awesome times.
I'm loving the fact Robofoxx is drinking a beer in this picture
Me and my friend Matt. His first ever brakeless ride.
Matt, less than a minute after the last photo was taken...
Mackenzie was loving it!
EM wasn't... -

its all well and good people posting HTFU and all this bollocks, but if you go out there and ride, be careful and use common sense.
Totally.
If you're going to fall off and hit something, aim for a pedestrian as they're soft targets and will cushion the fall.

It's true she baked a lovely sponge cake that due the low air pressure raised further than expected. This resulted in a massive 6" Victoria sponge.

I loved riding in today. But I cheated and brought the SS mountain bike, so much fun.

Me too. Polo bike on 25c, 10 miles to work. Send out a search party if I don't post after a few hours.
Made it! No spills, but I came close a bunch of times. Some nice pics to follow shortly.

Cycled in this morning... Hardly any traffic on Old Kent Road was a treat :)
The bloody snowball that was thrown at my head wasn't. Grrr!

Sat at work on my own now. Would have sacked it off but I'm a temp and don't get paid if I don't come in!
Took fecking ages to get in. Walked most the way as I was sliding all over the shop. It didn't help with some Ka driver revving behind me and beeping his horn. When I stopped and turned, he was waving me to get off the road and shouting. Very patient and considerate of him. He went a bit quieter when I didn't hesitate to express my disapproval at his rudeness, with a few choice words and a one fingered salute.
Guys on mountain bikes have been waiting all their lives for a good reason to ride one in London!

I really don't know that I can be arsed. Think I'll just make myself another coffee and have a shower... Was supposed to be in Hammersmith for 1, but they've just phoned to cancel - apparently there's some snow?

I'm about to walk to the cashpoint. If I don't make it back, tell Hippy I always loved him.

23Cs on about 120psi - what a laugh! A few comedy falls, nothing too bad though. Fixed is definately the way to go, I was brakeless 46X18 and it was brilliant, loads of grip and traction, although a few skiddy moments going UP dog kennell hill!
My bike with uber deep section snow rims, and the Great Court at the British Museum from the inside - very dark inside due to the foot of snow on the roof...
