Who is to say who is more deserving, a 20 year old trying to find his own resources and not sponge the parents or the 60 year old who has no family who's been drinking himself into homelessness for ages and living on the dole in one way or another for 40 years.
Obviously there are lots of people in the gray.

same here, i have quite a bit of mechanical knowledge and love tinkering.

Just got back from this, was really good. Loads of workshop stuff and parts so there's not much you can't help someone with. Anyone bringing their bike in is very grateful for the help too.

Sorry Nik haven't read this thread for ages - just swing by - as steve-o can attest you'll be welcomed. I actually work in PR daahrling so don't know the ins and outs but you may need to sign up as a Crisis volunteer is all... I think Steve-o knows a bit more as he came along...

well I've been the last two weeks now. the first week they were a bit confused but seeing as the guy who usually runs it was busy, they were glad of the experienced help as the other guy who was filling in for the original guy (if that makes sense) doesn't have a clue about bikes.

anyway, they said to me at the end of the first week that I should come in for an interview or something so I could sign up properly. So, I turned up early for the second week (thursday just passed) expecting to have an interview but the guy who runs it was busy and the little chance i did get to speak to him he just said go ahead and I ended up running the session for the day with him just popping in a couple of times to see if everything was ok.

Extra help would be good because it was quite busy and I could have done with a third or forth hand.

I think it's kind of assumed now that the guy Paul is in charge but I'm kind of running it now, or something. It means he can go off and do whatever else it is he needs to do

promotion! nice. I'll come down this week and say hello...

not so much a promotion, more like Paul's actually very busy with meetings (so it seems from my limited experience) that they trust me enough to leave me by myself.

would love to help, but am always busy on thursday 2-5 from now until mid july - is it only run at this time?

same for me, can't do 2-5

yeah - it's not the best time for nine to fivers - i'm gutted about that also, but no plans for a change as yet... might try and lobby the boss again though

yeah, I can only entertain the idea of it as I'm off work to do an MA dissertation atm
