Thanks for responding guys. I am totally new to this.
Yep, the size was part of the appeal, I'm 5'7''. The seller says the frame is 19'' which would be the sort of thing I am after. When I try friend's bikes I find 20'' is the max for me, and it seems like most of the stuff being sold is 20'' and above. (then again I am new to the fixie thing).
I was going to have prof's replace the BB for me anyway, they'll be able to remove the old parts right?
OK, so hub spacing is a real concern, I'd hate to be limited in my choice of wheels. What width should I ideally have?

Modern front hubs are all 100mm, rear: track hub 120mm, road 130mm, MTB 135mm (or wider for some downhill/mad applications).
Someone jump in if I have got any of that wrong!

Puch Pacemaker, unknown year. What are your opinions?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=180323890214I am thinking of this one for my first Fixie project. I.e. do the thing they seem to do in America a lot where they start with a shit frame, get all new parts like pricey wheels etc, then move these things onto a nicer frame when you have some more cash.
How much would you spend on the Puch?
Can you think of any caveats when it comes to eventually move the new parts I am thinking of adding to this one onto a 'proper' racing frame at a later point?
There seems to be a wide range of Puch models, anyone knows anything about the 'Pacemaker'?Hey man, I'm sellin this frame on the bay, I have the original 26 inch wheels and tyres too if you can pick up, i don't really fancy postin frame and wheels. I see you're the high bidder too, i don't reckon it'll go for much at all.

Nice little dropout protector thingies.
I have a Puch frame on the balcony- if it takes 26" wheels then the front hub spacing is likely to be 90/95mm and the rear 110mm which (unless you are happy to cold-set (i.e. bend) the frame getting parts might be tricky.
That said bending a steel frame out slightly should be fine.
