Invites are dumb... it's open to everyone now.
And it's just a music subscription service from the major record labels... there are massive gaps in their catalogue and if you weren't already a rhapsody or napster user, why on earth would you be interested in paying a tenner a month to rent music from spotify?

torrents>all

Ha ha,
We just had a ranting email at the EST about having too many adverts on spotify.

ahh i just got nvited to that,
didnt realise you had to PAY!fuck that

I don't think you have to pay immediately. Free for a bit, and then they charge you.
Best thing to do, register a new account every time you have a party and want to let anyone DJ from a colossal collection.

Have just realised its now open.... i have had it since early December and they haven't charged me... think they would find it difficult without card info as well

Actually... they have a "free" version it seems... "financed by adverts".
I'm still not going to bite, but that's at least slightly better than a tenner a month.
Me? I have SqueezeCenter and a music collection of tens of thousands of MP3s ripped from thousands of CD's. To me spotify is surplus to requirements... but I guess the industry desperately want something better than torrents to take hold.

Spotify - I've used it for a couple of months, An advert an hour or so - there are plenty of mixes on there lasting a an hour plus - just queue those up and you're laughing.
Agreed though - Torrents / Newsgroups FTW.

I got it yesterday I've only just been using the radio function so far which is pretty good you can mix genres and select specific decades.
You can control it through foxy tunes as well which is pretty handy. -
