Try adjusting the cones, if cub and cone type.

I use a hammer for all jobs except those which require a hammer - in which case I will use the nearest heavy object I can find.

I've had a charge plug for about 6 months and although i've had a load of punctures on my back wheel, I've never had one on the front so have had no reason to take it off..
However, i bought some gators the other day and fitted them to the front and back..
when i put the front wheel back on it was EXTREMELY wobbly.. there's probably an inch of play..
would anyone be able to tell a n00b exactly what i've done and how i can sort it?
thanks

Put it on at an angle?

hmmmm, it would be nice if it was that simple but I'm pretty sure it's on straight.. i can move the rim side to side while the wheel is tightly done up, like there is space between the axle and the hub or something..

don't over tighten them, your bearings wont like it.
