There's no way you will cut extra thread without a proper die. I have one and am happy to do it for a beer, I'm in SE1, it's not a big job as long as the section you want threading is not chromed - chrome is death to thread cutting tools.

Also anyone know the correct bolt size to fit cranks to a shimano 600 sealed bb.
Oh, and er M8, i.e. standard crank bolts, they're all pretty much the same unless the BB is Octalink

Perfect, not chromed.
When would be a good time, I'm hackney, but work EC1.
The reason i ask about the bb bolt size is coz i was gonna grab a couple from clerkenwell screws (see if i could find something a bit better looking as i have no dust caps!), but wasn't sure of thread size to buy
Anyone know who may be able to cut a little more thread into a pair of forks i have?
Or an alternative way to fit them to the frame when the thread finishes 5-10 too high. I was wondering if using some old headset bits as a tap and a blob of cutting paste might do it, anyone have any experience with this.
