This happened to me a few years back - again, my lock was no Abus.
When I went to a locksmith he recommended I work on it with a claw hammer (sledgehammer if I could get one).
About 20 well-placed hits with a big claw hammer smashed the lock open, I imagine if I'd got a sledgehammer it would have been even fewer.
Also a nice advert for not buying anything less than the best lock you can afford as I never thought it would be that easy...
