Bullhorn Sizing

  • I'm about to grab some for the geek, to allow some long rides in relative comfort, but how should i measure them?
I know that the modolo bars were uncomfortable, and they were ~44cm wide, so I guess that means somewhere around a 40cm for comfort.

    Also:
    which one out of:
    Charge slice
    Nitto

    Profile T2 wing
    Pro Synop Hydroform

    or other (suggestions?)

    cheers in advance.

  • I Have the 40cm Nitto Bullhorns and find them comfortable...

  • charge slice bars are shit.
    in my humble opinion.

  • ive got some 42cm pursuit bars (cheaper nitto rb-021 essentially) but im thinking of getting the 38cm rb-021s once hubjub has them in stock, partly because the bullhorns point in diff directions thanks to some falls and crashes, and partly because i have a feeling (based on nothing but a hunch) that narrower ones may be more comfortable.

  • Charge ones were alright for me but I wouldn't have bought them out of choice they felt super wide at times.

  • gotta be cinelli tempo

  • I've got the Profile T2 wing and the flat top is amazingly comfortable.

Pro Synop Hydroform wouldn't look right imo.

  • profile airwing or syntace stratos for me.

syntace are nice as they have a tiny bit of back sweep, profile are good as you can pick them up cheap and vlight.

  • I based my bullhorns on my chest width, that way my arms are not spread out but in a straight line, works for me, and feels very comfy when riding the Bridgestone to sold me Henry.

  • Profile airwings.

    They're SO comfy.

Their shape means you can rest your palms on the downward slopes and let your fingers kind of balance over the edge, BRM will attest to this being possible and comfortable.

And they're light, and affordable. I think mine are 42s.

    How wide are they?

  • 42cm I think

  • Nitto bullhorns FTW - 38cm seem to be perfect for my shoulder width, and they're nice and narrow for squeezing between traffic. I didn't measure them, but instead just went for the narrowest width and they seemed to work.

If we ever get an Oxford ride sorted, you'd be welcome to try them out.

    +2 Airwing OS FTW.

  • Hi guys,

I bought the Bianchi Pista Via Brera this afternoon. It is really nice, but I bought a brown Brooks saddle and I would like to buy a bullhorn (and I will cover it with leather). will bullhorn of the Charge Plug fit? I do not know what size of bullhorn or what brand of bullhornto buy (I do not want it to be too large as I am a girl and I am thin). could you help me?

  • Timouss, bar width is best assessed via your shoulder with. See if you can get 38/40 cm wide bar.

You also need to work out what clamp size your current stem is.

  • Ok. Thanks Zed.
