LARGO -- Belcher Road has reopened to traffic after a large utility truck collided with a bicycle near Fairway Boulevard and Belcher Road this morning.
Originally reported in critical condition at a local hospital, bicyclist Anthony Bell was recently upgraded to stable condition after the 7:49 a.m. accident.
Police said Bell, 46, of Largo was trying to cross Belcher Road when he stepped off a center median and into a northbound lane, where he was struck by a Ford F700 utility truck driven by Muris Masic, 47.
Witnesses told police that Bell had been stopped in the lane when he was struck. A police spokesman said in a statement Masic, 47, was not at fault and has not been cited with any violation.
