  • it's been posted about a million times before.

  • i have always thought the same, there is no way to secure it other then screwing on??? just like a freewheel thread then?

  • Yeah I would think so...

  • it's a dumb device. might as well just put a track cog on the freewheel thread.

  • they also push the width out to get proper chainline. i've got a freewheel one in my bag if anyone wants.

  • surely it would'nt screw off, it fits the star shaped recess that modern freehubs slot into-held on with hollow allen sleeve bolt-still not good long term conversion though.

Nah its a screw on adaptor.
You have to wonder why they even bothered with a lockring thread on it

  • What it does is makes a multispeed screw on hub accept a fixed cog and lockring. the main advantage of this item is to give correct chainline without the need of respacing and redishing of the wheel. I have not ever tried one but I have been told they work well.

  • I'm guessing they would work on the track, when your slowing down is not so aggressive? Just highly impractical on the streets if you like a good skid or 2!
I've recently been offered a rear wheel with said screw on block fitting on the cheap. I was gonna get a track adapter and see how it worked.
    Has anyone ACTUALLY used one?

  • I use a surly singlator, whcih doesn't rotate when slowing down because it fits on the splines where the freewheel would go rather than being screwed on.

I think you mean Surly Fixxer. The Singulator is a chain tensioner for single speeds.

  • Fixxer..

    Singulator..

  • Duh.
    Your right.
I try to rock/ride a full range of surly products, the fixxer on my fixed, the singulator on my SS.
    Sorry

  • rock/ride

that was meant to be sarcastic

Just screw the cog directly on to the wheel without the adapter then redish the wheel. Save your money, it's a pointless item.

  • TheBrick: Can you please explain how to redish a disc-wheel?

  • George Sportif makes no mention of a disk wheel in his quoted text. That was who I was answering.

but.. if you want to redish a disk wheel I suggest you need to use a hammer and then some glue.

    Ha!

  • Do you still have the single speed adapter available? Could I buy it off you?

    Last post was referencing this

  • Seeing as this was 3 years ago, plus the fact Dogsballs is now back down under, I doubt it.
