• Whatever music you listen to, the most important thing is to get your body to associate it with sleep. Some helpful things are not spending any time in your bed (or lying down) unless you are directly about to go to sleep. I read in bed a lot, and apparently it makes your mind associate bed with mental activity. Only go to bed and whack on some Chopin when you are definatly about to fall asleep.

Personally I have made sleeping to traffic sounds my switch-off signal, as that's pretty much what I get when I turn off all my gadgets and lights at night. It's really hard to regain a decent routine, but it is so important.

As for a recommendation, my mother would be the one too ask (Classic FM, 6 til 8 in the morning, for all you early birds :) ), but nice mellow post-rock and ambient like Telephon Tel Aviv, Hrsta or Atavist and Nadja. Also, Ry Cooder and V.M.Bhatt is an amazing collaboration. So soothing.

I'm in a similar boat. I bounce around alot and spend all my time browsing the internet and not working, if I'm not drinking or cycling. It's shit. Ruins everything.
