  • Hooray! a ride I can do in January. Shouldn't we take-in Walkabout at Shepherds Bush as we head West to Richmond Park?
    http://www.walkabout.eu.com/home/venues/london/shepherds-bush

  • big detour and some nasty traffic, kings rd FTW!

  • yep - i will have about 3 bottles of wine in my office and you lot can swing by so i can latch on to the mob.

  • What's Australia Day? Is there where we chase them all to the docks with sticks and ship the fuckers off home?

By 'them' of course I mean the wallabies that escaped West Midlands Safari & Leisure Park a few years back.

  • b4 careful, they bite and can kick. not as evil as drop bears though.

  • Can't see how to avoid traffic if going to RP from Covent Garden.

Either Covent Garden; Picadilly; Kinghtsbridge; Fulham Road;Putney Bridge; Lower Richmond Rd; Priory Lane to Roehampton Gate at RP .

or Cov Gdn; Picadilly; Hyde Park; Notting Hill Gate; Holland Park Ave; Shephereds Bush; WALKABOUT; Hammersmith Bridge; Barnes; Priory Lane; RP.

Yes, two big traffic interchanges on the second route. but a big Os pub and a fab ride through quiet Barnes in its favour.

There is a Walkabout in Wimbledon for after RP. WAs this en-route last year?

  • Covent Garden, along Emankment to Temple Walkabout. Blast along Embankment, along Chelsea Embankment then turn off Cheyne Walk onto Lots Road, sneak through Chelsea Harbour then along Town Mead Road, over Wandsworth Bridge then another sneak across at the traffic lights to avoid the round-about, maybe a pint at The Ship then along aptly named Smugglers Way onto Putney Bridge road and then its just back streets all the way to Richmond Park. Avoids all the trash getting through Chelsea and Fulham and across Putney Bridge (which isn't that bad anyway).

  • The Oz Day ride was a very cool ride last year. Dogs actually did something right. :P

Unrelated: http://www.taylor-st.com/ (there's one near Liverpool St) sell small Cherry Ripes.

  • hmmmm, an australia day ride, sounds rad but it needs to involve drinking VB and Bundy somehow or it just wouldnt be australian.

what would the traffic situation be like?

  • Small-ish group should be fine. We can regroup at the gate of the park if we do get split.

  • will it be the same route as before??? richmond park at night is amazing and quite a challenging ride at night.

  • Especially when the deer are in a homicidal mood..

  • hahahahaha

  • Are you boys coming by Saaf drinks tomorrow night? If "yes" then maybe the locals should be suitably attired in convict tweed to greet the antipodean cousins.

  • Strewth, Hippy, I did not realise you were a Sheila.... can you bring your two twin sisters as well?

  • What's the plan for tonight then?

I assume it's to meet here (Covent Garden Walkabout) at 1830 then a blast down to RP, a swift lap of deer avoiding mayhem, then dash back to the Coach and Horses for a well earned pint or two?

  • happy australia day :)

(i spent it drinking in the sun, dancing in the dust under some trees and watching pretty girls spray water on each other to stay cool. it was completely excellent. can't wait to get back to london and winter...)

  • i hope you enjoy the 40+deg weather for rest of week!

  • I shall revive the newer, this year thread.

But yes. Maiden Lane. I reckon we should be leaving proptly if I'm gonna get me a burger at South Drinks later on! Say, 6.45 - 7 latest. Some are wanting meet along the route at Putney Bridge, so aim to be there 7.15-7.30.

    Bonzer.
