Ouch, that means I wont have my bikes cog changed then ? :,(

Depends on how badly it's raining dude. I've just made myself a temporary mudguard but if it's really wet I don't think doing a 7 mile trek in the rain is gonna be a good end to the day.. Wow the whole week is crap except wednesday!

Screw the weather! I had a major dose of HTFU today, did my first commute from work to home, about 9 miles with lots of rain and a headwind haha, but hey it was fun and didn't really take any longer than it would have done by car, thanks to being able to skip through traffic whilst all the other suckas sit there twiddling their thumbs :p

So we'll be on the floor bellow the roof right?
-
• #1706
Ordered a 19T+lockring+freewheel tool. Fingers crossed I'll get it by Tuesday :D
-
• #1707
I hope you mean lock ring tool!
I'll probably go up to the roof, since the risk of head trauma on the floors below if I sit upright is kinda high!
By the way, in the end I decided to commute on my 44-19 gearing, and it was actually spot on, spin to win! -
• #1708
44 - 19 is what i changed to a couple days ago and its actually wicked, im loving the spinning
-
• #1709
Nah freewheel tool to get rid of the freewheel. I'll just hammer the lockring. S'what I did for my existing one. I'll actually end up with 42-19 :D Keeping the 16T on the other side for some speed though!

would you need to change the length of the chain when you flipped the wheel? just curious...
-
• #1711
you have to slide the axle slightly more than 3mm per teeth so from 16 to 19 should be around 1 cm difference.. not a problem with most drop outs!
( I ride with a 17 on one side and a 15 on the other) -
• #1712
does it matter where his axle is sitting on the dropouts in the first place? if there was a problem would maybe 1 tooth more/less on the chainring sort the problem?
-
• #1713
well..you need to have 1 cm of drop out in front of the axle when running the 16t so you have the room to slide it forward to run the 19..
if running the 16 the axle too much forward you can add a couple of links to the chain. -
• #1714
Hmm good point! However I have just under 1cm. Should be Ok after the chain stretches a bit more I reckon. If not as you said, I'll just add a link because I have loads of space behind the axle.
EDIT: I have about 8mm between the edge of the axle. From the centre of the axle I have about 13mm -
• #1715
hey phil..
I don't think the chain will stretch that much...2-3 mm are a lot on a chain..probably you'll better add a link. anyway it's an easy job.
about the weather, if you checked it on bbc you can pretty much trust them as we have seen on sunday :-(( -

if a spoke card is made I demand one be posted to america for me
Also you lot are weak if your letting a little rain stop you, the rain in london doesn't even hurt when it gets below freezing. That's right we have rain that hurts.

No battle scars to prove it.
It's not so much the rain, it's the chafing from having wet trousers.
Pepperoni, I'll buy me a new chain from evans today then :)
