  • Hi
I agree with Phil Grease, the only grease proven waterproof.Have you seen what happens to bearings while running the white Finish Line grease, and riding in the heavy rain? Wet bearings RUST with this grease.

The Folks at [www.progold](http://www.progold) have very intersting grease though, and if their bike grease lubricates like the prolink chain lube, then it must be GREAT!

  • K-Y jelly??

  • Finish Line Teflon grease is ok for this sort of thing.

I've never had Lithium grease dry out, but it is toxic.

  • i use white lithium grease for everything eg bearings, lockrings, pressing in cups, seat posts

good for you, still dries out though :P

  • i've never had issues with stuck posts or anything. but then i ride my bikes.

  • i read that in a bike forum somewhere DB, where a pro mechanic did actually use white lithium grease for all the bikes he maintained.

However, he did say not to use it if you intend to leave it in situ over a long period. instead use marine grease.

Wasn't a problem for his bikes since he replaced all the bearings and re-greased everything after every race anyway, so the grease never had time to dry out.

  • marine grease, even cracks and dry's out after a long time. i'll dig a tub out from my grandpa's shed. pffft!

  • vaseline ;)

  • don't bother with grease, just go bareback

  • marine grease, even cracks and dry's out after a long time. i'll dig a tub out from my grandpa's shed. pffft!

oh ok, i give up !

  • dont wash your fair for a month, then sqeeze the grease out.

  • Recently bought some Lucas Oil X-tra Heavy Duty Wheel Bearing Grease from ebay

Its the same blue colour as park grease (good grease) but this is even smoother, very high quality. I don't know what colour Phil grease is, but this could well be it before its re-branded, as its also USA made. £6.50 for nearly 500g. :)

  • As I've mentioned in another discussion:

Dura Ace grease: yeah, right great stuff. But preferably the grease they carried in the early 1990's. I think that was one of the best types of bike grease ever. Meanwhile, Shimano has another type of grease.
If you still want the original, look for this: Autol Top 2000. This is what Shimano used for their green Dura Ace grease.
