  • I certainly don't want to start an argument and this probably isn't the place for it, but I'd say there are no hard and fast rules; many would agree with dogs and 31, but IMHO if you have to drop a size to save yourself from sitting on the top tube because it is an inch or at most two higher, then you road bike is too big. In my experience the difference in standover height is really hardly noticeable. Standover height isn't a major issue on a track bike anyway, the smaller frame thing comes from sprinters wanting stiffer bikes and a bit swing clearance for out of the saddle stomping. Top tube length is also an issue but lets not get into it...
    Personally I think on a track bike, sitting down as you are most of the time , seatpost bob is way more annoying than having to lift my foot an inch higher to get off. People argue for all sorts of 'musts' with regards to sizing, if I was going to make a claim for one it would be taking it for a spin, esp at $880. At a guess either way it is still probably a bit small for you and it ain't a bargain. Keep looking I'd say.
