Offered: 53 Moser

  • I'm purchasing my first real track frame so I need some help.
    So I found this Moser thats up for sale in denmark (I live in Norway so not that far away) and it's up for £880.

    Specs are:

    Miche 165 mm cranks, Gebhardt chainring
    Phil Wood laced to Mavic Open Pros - 17t Phil cog
    Dura-ace seatpost
    Nitto-pearl stem
    Carbon risers
    Tange headset

    Is it worth it? And if so, 5,9 - 6 feet tall, would it fit?

    Thanks

  • Seems marginally expensive. Good bunch of components though.

  • It's a little small for you pal, and also a little bit too expensive.

    Better buying a track frame for around 200 and piecing one together yourself!

  • offer 780/800, size wise would fir 5ft 8, not much taller.

  • I thought it seemed a bit pricey my self, I've been looking into buying a frame from www.njs-keirin.blogspot.com/ but they end up being pretty expensive as I have to pay around $600 for the frame and another $120 for shipping. Although I do have a pair of risers, a njs stem, brooks saddle and track pedals lying around.

  • seems like an ok price to me maybe a little expensive but its certainly not a rip off

    Main question is are you 5'9" or 6' if the former thne i should fit, if the latter then it will be too small.

  • What's the "rule" for sizing?
    Anybody got a chart?

    As for now I'm using
    53=165-170 cm
    55=168-175 cm
    57=173-180 cm
    59=179-186 cm
    61=184-194 cm

  • Thats gonna be way to small for you.

    Im 5'8 and 56cm is most comfortable for me with risers.

    54cm top tube with drops.

    Im sure youll need at least a 56, but probably more as its very tight geometry.

    nope, on a track frame you should go down one size lethal. i usually would ride a 56cm being 5ft 10, but because of the b/b on a proper track frame being higher, you need to drop down a size, so mine is a 54 and it fits perfect.

  • fark, yet again DFP. due to high BB on proper track bikes you need to go down a size or 2. i'm 181cm so a tad under 6ft and ride 56cm

  • That whole drop a size thing on track bikes is a point of dispute I'd say. A lot of places say that isn't the case. The top tube may be higher from the ground but then of course so are the pedals. For a normal track bike the same as your road size will be fine. Anyway this is a moot point. A 53 isn't going to fit you if you are 6ft, and showing that much post on a classic'ish' bike will look odd, think how long seatposts were when that thing was new, 19 or 25cm.
    At a guess I'd say you need a 56 and remember to always check if the measurement is centre to top or centre to centre or you could end up buying a bike that is two sizes too small.

    higher BB, means higher relative TT, when means the standover height is higher. so unless you want your nuts in your armpits, drop a size or two.

  • that Moser is pretty sweet. a tad overpriced and it seems, too small. sweet all the same.

  • I certainly don't want to start an argument and this probably isn't the place for it, but I'd say there are no hard and fast rules; many would agree with dogs and 31, but IMHO if you have to drop a size to save yourself from sitting on the top tube because it is an inch or at most two higher, then you road bike is too big. In my experience the difference in standover height is really hardly noticeable. Standover height isn't a major issue on a track bike anyway, the smaller frame thing comes from sprinters wanting stiffer bikes and a bit swing clearance for out of the saddle stomping. Top tube length is also an issue but lets not get into it...
    Personally I think on a track bike, sitting down as you are most of the time , seatpost bob is way more annoying than having to lift my foot an inch higher to get off. People argue for all sorts of 'musts' with regards to sizing, if I was going to make a claim for one it would be taking it for a spin, esp at $880. At a guess either way it is still probably a bit small for you and it ain't a bargain. Keep looking I'd say.

  • Way over price dude ! Much better bikes out there alot cheaper...

  • 'track'
