Morning all, As a self - employed photographer I share your concerns.
Where I have desk space (retail marketing agency) they have just laid off yet more staff.
However it only takes one big job and they are clambering for freelancers so will keep you informed.

If any of you know any "creatives" at ad agencies please let me know as I need more work.
I owe you beers and agent fee.

the last big dip [about 6 years ago] was when I was made redundant and first started freelancing, I'm hoping the same scenario plays out, 3 months of hard times then it really picked up

7 in London, some also gone in the Leeds office. They have been very unlucky with the pending demise of the large Z client.
I do believe its about to change for the better for them soon.
Just been to see 300million, do good identity work. Might be worth a call.

Yeah, he was buying Ti when I was there last.

We have a big freeze on getting freelancers in at the moment like most agencies but having said that are always on the lookout for people with good Flash, Final Cut Pro, etc. skills. Basically any digital media skills when it comes to build/design for online creative - could be banners, rich media, viral, etc..

If you have those skills and would like to PM me an online folio and CV/rates then please feel free. Perversely we're still very busy as our sector of the industry is still growing (although perhaps not as rapidly as it was) as clients pull more budget from traditional media into digital. Although being busy the freelance freeze is more due to the fact we're part of a large networked ad agency, the freeze being more relevant to the rest of the agency and sister agencies than us if you get my drift.

Where/who are you guys trying out of interest (in terms of recruitment/freelance providing agencies)?

Got crunched from my last job and Im thinking about taking a unpayed internship for 6 months unless anyone out there has a real job for me? Graphic Design oriented would be good but I guess I cant be too picky. Heres my website

I do communications for a charity; always on the lookout for designers. Unfortunately we're a bit cash-strapped at the moment (they keep making me design stuff, and I can barely use photoshop) so our budgets are pretty low. But let me know if you want me to get in touch next time we need a quote on something.
