there's definitely a limit to what I'm gonna spend on my Raleigh 501 beater... I'll get half decent parts, but not £300 on a wheel for a £20 frame, that's just nuts.

I have an old "supermarked lopro" (really shitty Reynolds 500 frame) that I'm going to strip the braze-on's from, and fit it with a 26" mtb front + some kind of wide 700c rim rear on an on-one hub + some kind of effect paint... I think it will cost me about 50 pounds ;) unless I change my mind when I try getting the stuck seat post out again.. changed my mind at that point last time.. :)

That purple thing with the green bandannas wrapped around the stem and seat post, is the worst bike i've ever seen. More peng than pengy itself

I see nothing wrong with having a conversion with good kit... building a conversion is a good way to get a cheap bike... when you have the money to spend it's a lot more satisfying to put some trick bits on it than it is to buy a new frame... these guys are probably going to work their way upto having some really nice bikes some day... I actually like the purple one too... nice finish ;)
