Any cheap 52-53cm road frames.
If you are still after a frame then I've a 531 that used to be my fixed (forward facing horizontal dropouts). It's about 21inch, paint work is really really grotty, with a bit of surface rust coming through but structurally sound. It's an old Jacque Anquetil "mallet journe", inc fork and headset.
Can be collected from North Brum, between Erdington and Chester Rd stations. £20 should make me happy. -

Anyone got a 22" track frame they want to sell me?

i have my lo-pro with pretty threaded forks (as in the thread is a bit destroyed), bb and headset to sell (in very good condition other than the thread on the forks). Also some nitto flats cut down a bit, a charge 1 1/8 25.4mm stem with 10mm reach from a stock charge and some basso steel 1' english threaded forks for saleand small metal no name clips. oh and an old fucked specilized (large) which i left in my back garden all winter. the wheels are very rusty and the stem and seatpost are frozen in place but the frame is structually secure (I think) and the groupset might still work so it could be salvaged for parts (free to anyone who can be assed to pick it up)
this is just a pre-sale before i go to the main sales thread as it's easier for me to sort out bham sales. PM me wit offers or for more info/photos.

Stick the Aende on ebay and youll get a small fortune. Its the best time to list probably, everyone looking for winter projects.
Are those blue forks in Birmingham? I might be interested. Ta

You'd get at least 200 if not more, I reckon, if you look at what these two went for:

I've got some 172.mm Miche Primato Adv Track cranks i'd like to sell. They are fine for city fixed gears, but sadly too long for the track.

'primato advanced track' cranks are designed for track riding. 172 is fine for the track, as is 180mm. The height of your BB is more important for determining what level of banking its safe to ride on. You should ride whatever fits your body and consider a new frame if necessary, it woul dbe worth it in the long run.
Here is a list of riders and crank lengths to put things in perspective:
Jacques Anquetil 175mm
Lance Armstrong 175mm
Chris Boardman 170mm
Santiago Botero 172.5mm
Angel Casero 175mm
Mario Cipollini 172.5mm
Fausto Coppi 171mm
Malcolm Elliott 172.5mm
Tyler Hamilton 172.5mm
Bernard Hinault 172.5mm
Miguel Indurian 180mm (190mm for second Hour record!)
Laurent Jalabert 172.5mm
Greg Lemond 175mm
Brad McGee 175mm
Robbie McEwen 175mm
Eddy Merckx 175mm
David Millar 175mm (180mm in TT)
Francesco Moser 175mm
Marty Northstein 167.5mm in Keirin (170mm in kilo)
Graham Obree 175mm
Marco Pantani 170mm (180mm in mountains)
David Rebellin 172.5mm
Roger Riviere 175mm
Jean Robic 170mm
Tony Rominger 172.5mm (175mm for Hour record)
Oscar Sevilla 175mm
Jan Ullrich 177.5mm
Rik Verbrugghe 175mm
Erik Zabel 172.5mm
Alex Zulle 175mm (180mm in mountains) -

It really depends on the track, I get away with a low bottom bracket and 175mm cranks on a 450m outdoor track; riding that at Newport, Manchester or Calshot would be sucidial.

This something that has interested me for a while ( sorry to hijack this thread BTW but ).... **What would be a reasonable BB height ( floor to BB ) for riding streets with 170mm crank length.
**
I currently run 165s but am thinking about dashing some 170s on for that little bit of extra torque....My current Frame is a Dolan Pre Cursa... Before I bought it I looked high and low for info on this and found nothing. No one knew what the distance was from floor to BB but obviously now I own one I can measure it.
I just dont want to be purchasing longer cranks only to find that I strike the pedal at every corner!
Any help would be appreciated.

Youll be fine. Dan from on your bike had huge cranks (I think 180's) on his IRO.
I run 165's but I have a ridiculously low 245mm bb height (with tyres) This is fine for me as I have a small cadence feels perfect.
Youll probably find that your BB height on your bike is something like 285mm-300mm as its a proper track frame. Plus your BB spindle will probably be a narrow one (mine is 110) meaning you could get away with any cranks you want being 4cm-6cm higher than mine for example.

Can i just clarify - by this i meant:
I want to use these cranks on the track, i'm in Newport this weekend...... however, I personally would prefer to ride a 165mm or 167.5 max.
Therefore, 172mm's are personally too long for my bike. Who wants to buy them off me so i can buy the same crank, only shorter......? -
• #48
whilst i like being known as a 180mm iro-masher, i actually have 175mm on my pompino. i originally had 165mm on my iro, but i changed for 175 for more leverage when i was running singlespeed against much advice. 175 felt way better, more torque and more balance. when i switched to fixed it caused toe overlap issues, but not too major. liveable. when i got my pompino, that stopped being an issue.
i think the biggest factor is the pedals you use. i use spds, and have never clipped my pedal on the floor. sometimes when i'm riding with cool people with clips and straps i hear/see their pedals striking. it scares the bejesus out of me.
in further crank news, i now have one black crank and one silver crank. ghetto-cool or pikey?
-
• #49
Pikey.
Do you sell 650c rims at OYB?
-
• #50
yeah, i guess pikey. there are literally no good value track cranks on the market though, so i'm sticking with it.
nah, we don't have 650c stuff i'm afraid. i'm in the process of persuading the manager to stock a range of fixed bits though.
Anyone got anything like these MKS Sylvan tourers for sale / swap?
Dont mind too much about condition... as long as they are double sided.
Please.
