rear might be the best option. although i was getting bored of fixing front flats. it does however feel slightly agricultural in it's set up! oh if only folk didn't smack their bitches up with bottles every bloody night, then one might be able to ride without the risk of puncture?

I did have gator on the front and armadillo on the back . Did still manage a few punctures on the front though .
Brought new wheels which came with the Rubinos and touch wood have been great .
I have found keeping the tyre pressure at the proper psi helps as well . -

I ride Conti top contacts on the rear and the only time I ever punctured was when I skidded through the tyre completely. Zero riding punctures. They're expensive though and the smallest size they do is 28mm.
Vittoria Randonneurs are meant to be amazing and they're cheap as shit. I just ordered one from Wiggle. They only go to 28mm though.

i rock armadillos front and back (second set). riding from lower clapton to maida vale, through dirty camden, via holloway road, on a daily basis. they're hard as hell, incredibly slippy in the wet, and in the dry, riding brake free, the rear tends to glide across the tarmac, but i haven't had a puncture since like last august and i've only skidded into the back of one car, due to their non grip qualities. they're also a bit fat (23 – 25), if you're sporting a fancy, low clearance frame, you may struggle with them. i've noticed i'm not really selling them here. however, they are pretty good at keeping the glass out.
had arms on the back and soo bad in the wet tbh but had no punctures on them but the fuckin trouble on those is fittin those on . . .
right now im riding on white Randonneurs on the back and Gators on the front and love the ride . . .

Personally id just get the cheapest/best value puncture proof tyres (vittoria rubino for me) they grip very well in the dry, tread lasts ages, they have loads of protective layers inside and can take a lot of skidding. Usually about £8. Ive ridden them throughout this icy winter front & rear.
same here. just make sure they're pumped up and you'll be fine. don't bother with gators or armadillos. waste of money.

I fitted armadillos (28s) a week ago and have already had two punctures from small sharp stones. fucking shite and a waste of money. going to get schwalbe marathon plus next.

I'm going Rubino Pro next, love my Soma Everwear but still a bit tough to skid, similar to a Gator IMO... I loved my Rubinos, you just had to think about locking the rear up and away you went, shhhhhhhhhh... Lovely sound...

It's "hippy" you albino dog turd.
I've put a Hutchison something-or-other on the back of the Ribble rather Rubino Pro for the simple reason that it's been in my cupboard for 18 months and I want rid of the fucking thing. I ran them before I got into Rubino Pro and they do ok, they were only £12 or something from Condor on special. Still Rubino Pro FTW.
I'm still to try out Duncan's Vittoria Diamante which should be slightly more durable than their race tyres and a bit faster than the Pros. Bit expensive to run on the fix but I'm doing fuck all skidding these days anyway since it kills my tired legs. DA front brake ftw ;) -

I'd read somewhere on here that the Maxxis Detonators that come on the Surly Steamroller were crap. They were so I replaced them with Contis Ultra Gatorskins but not alot of difference puncture resistance wise. Schwalbe Marathon Plus 25sx 2 arrived this morning ...

I've had Maxxis Detonators and no problem. Never got a puncture.

I like Rubinos, had them on my road bike since Nov, didn't expect them to last long given how cheap they are but they're still going strong and i know i'm tempting fate saying this, no punctures so far.
and best of all they're easy to get on/off so when i do puncture..... -
• #199
The Maxxis Detonators were really crap. I'm using gators at the mo and they're really nice to ride - only one puncture (a fucking nail) in about 3 months and they grip well in the wet. Can be a pain to skid on though and I don't like the brown stiching thing on the sides.

I like my rubber to have a snug fit.
Simple.
REAR only.
