  • www.photosinthedark.com/Carlton.jpg thats the one.

  • jamaican skid - move your leading foot underneath the forward pedal and pull up whilst pushing down on the rear pedal. ( Not recommended without a lockring on BMX pedals.. :-( )
EDIT - Holy crap thats that nice frame again! are you sure it isn't too big for you mate?.. I could do you a favour and take it off your hands and tings?

  • Just with pressure on rear:

Same posture just without being clipped in or strapped in.

    he is clipped in.

"Same posture just without being clipped in or strapped in"

  • Oh, I always skid by pulling on the leading foot.

I put most of the force back, but pulling up helps with controlling it.

  • It depends what foot I have forwards. Skidding with left foot forwards, I push down with the back foot, skidding with right foot forwards, I pull up with the front foot.

  • either way, straps/spd help.

  • yup

  • i find if i put all my force back my rear wheel tends to bounce a bit, more so with my weight nearer to the saddle. the other thing with clips and straps/ clipless on fixed is keeping you on the bike, as its easy to slip off flat pedals while going down hill and spinning fast. and you get better power transfer with clipless, then clips.

  • Yes, certainly intend to sort some foot retention.. some clips are on order.

  • it easy to skid without strap/clipless, I've been doing that for age before buying a strap recently.

the strap just made it easier to skid when it's too grippy.

  • but it's not a controlled skid or one that it actually useful for changing direct or slowing down.

  • but it's not a controlled skid or one that it actually useful for changing direct or slowing down.

no, you need both feet for that, one to push down, and the other to push up.

  • I've only just actually checked my GI on that rabbit gear calculator... I'm riding 99GI brakeless (49x13) on the road... no wonder I was finding it hard to skid stop... Can't wait to get a few more chain links and get that 20T that's been knocking around on!! It really does make me feel silly...
