What is this worth...

  • What do you guys think a reasonable price for this bike is...

the bike has been just rebuilt based on a 80's Raleigh "team banana", the frame is perfectly straight and mechanically sound and considering this is a 20-25 years old frame the paintwork is in pretty excellent original conditions, all the stickers were taken off by the guy i bought the frame from for a re-spry but if you ask me it looks pretty slick as it is!
The bike has only been on the road for a couple of miles since rebuilt to test it and she rides as smooth as oil.
All in all this is a cheap, solid and unpretentious ride suitable for someone 5'5-5'8.
    here are the full specs:

28h mavic MA50 rims laced to large flange miche primato sealed bearings track hubs,
selle san marco concor light saddle,
campagnolo front brake and crank set with stronglight chainring,
shimano UN53 sealed bearings bottom bracket,
    japanise Hatta crome headset,
    diateck dirt harry brake lever,
new 700x20c schwalbe blizzard kevlar tyres and tracx inner tubes,
    new bar tape
new kmc z510 1/8 track chain
    new alloy seatpost
    new single chain ring bolts
    42-15 gear ratio

  • together it's not worth what you've spent on it, in fact you will loose money on a conversion, your best bet is to split it up in such case you might make £150 at best on selling all the parts.

    Sorry to be honest!

  • The one thats been on gumtree for about 8 years?

Offer him £200. Seems alright to me like!

  • £175, but selling it to a clueless person for £250 is not hard.

  • is that yours offermann? I know someone who might be interested for 150..

  • is that yours offermann? I know someone who might be interested for 150..

It's on Gumtree mate. I think for £245

Doubt it's his as he's asking for a 'fixed' in a similar size elsewhere!

  • how much do you weigh?

28h not too clever for the street if your a fatso.

    Value, £200 max.

I would normally say £100 for such a bike, but it appears to have new wheels built with decent parts.

So think £100, but if you paid £200 you aint been ripped off.

  • how much for the tyres?

    dibs if split

  • What would you guys price this at?

MB Dronfield 54'' Fixie track bike

Sugino 75 Track crank and arms, Nitto 80 stem, nitto drops, gary king headset, dv rims, xtra set of wheels alexrims b500 flipflop, xtra set of flat bars, and will throw in my abus lock..........

Very good condition, few tarnishes on frame but still looking Gooooooooodddddd
Will need to get new front tyre and maybe pedal clips

    no timewasters, serious buyers only.

  • £400 is what I would pay if its 531 and has decent- MB are a small cycle shop in northampton, not sure if they've built it themselves or just rebranded and resprayed. call them!

  • a pie and a pint

  • give him 400 and be done with it.

  • Thanks for all your help so far. I'm just desperately trying to get a decent bike. Something not too expensive, but with enough value that I can sell it off again when I leave back to the states in June.

  • give him 400 and be done with it.

Damn straight - especially with the extra set of wheels. They may be low-end, but you can always sell them on for £70-80 if they are in decent condition

  • "and this one"

    "cheese"

    and that one

    "cheese also"

    what about this one

    "cheese"

  • a pie and a pint

You are talking my language flower.

    Veggie pie like.

just get a road bike and a 2nd hand fixed rear wheel, shouldn't cost more than £100 if you're trying to get a temporary bike, or get the Raleigh, it is a temporay bike after all, all bike are decent if you choose the right component (rather than 'best' component).

    -gary king
    -54"

    first one £150
    seconf £400

  • dale, if you do any more ROFLing, you might get sacked

  • I think the material price in a 54" steel frame would be quite high.. :)

  • as would be the seat

  • its an easy mistake to make, come on give the guy a break!
