I'm 5'8" - 5'9" (depending if I'm being measured in a police station or a hospital), and I ride a 54cm Capo 5, but my slightly smaller Bowery feels a better fit. I think 54 would be the size for you though.
But, I do notice, that if a couple of days pass before I get on my Bowery, my back hurts for a short time, while I'm actually riding. I try to stretch now before I go cycling.
+1 on the gloves suggestion. A good padded pair does make a difference.
