It is a bare metal frame, although it doesn't look that way now! I had it like this for a while, really like the look, but just fancied investigating an alternative so I've started spraying it white...but i'm pessimistic about the outcome!!

hmmm....did you strip the paint and then simply laquer it? Does that hold?

Im trying the bare metal look but cant figure out whether the laq will hold it from rusting

A few months on and a very salty salty winter so far , i can safely say the spray laquer i used did give fuck all to minimal protection . It was falling off after a few days . You can get this brush on laquer from Mackays which may be more substantial .
I've now got to take the GF's bike apart and do something else to the frame before it totally rots away . She likes it rusty though

  • I used some grit sandpaper over the whole frame, and then hit it with some Mothers Mag Al polish...i've been putting it on monthly and its worked like a charm, but its a bit of a hassle having to do it every month. You could try colourless anodizing!?

  • Oh, and wicked bike Marxist!

  • thanks for the advice dudes, ill try the brush on stuff and see how that holds

i have bad news, im seeing more of those unipacks round town, today a guy on a blue/yellow one with a freewheel.

  • The unipacks will tear us apart , again
