The top tube length on a road bike is critical, go back to the shop and try the other sizes.
I am 5'8 and would worry about a 52cm frame giving me a cramped body and neck strain.
I ride a 56cm with risers so its tricky to compare.
You can experiment with making the handlebars a lot higher, and seat as high as comfortable.
