  • TheBrick(Tommy) ribble?

    +1
    depends where u live though
i live (when at home) maybe 45 mins decent ride from them
so by car its no problem
never had bad service there, in person talking/ buying from them direct
whole family rides them now and in past nothing ever gone wrong

however i have heard stories of their mail/internet service not as good and small defects etc etc
cant say either way for that though

other than that ... jealous !! even though my current is only 6 months old haha
and sucks u cant top it up, seems a bit self defeating in some ways

  • ps.

I've got SRAM Force levers and derailleurs on my PedalForce and they are just fabulous, far, far more intuitive than Shimano and (at least for me) more comfortable to ride on the hoods with than Campagnolo shifters. In case it isn't obvious I'm a complete convert, luv em.

  • Buy my wheels ;) - yours for £640

  • i'll give you £638

  • Just got Bike2work, up to £1000 in total (ideally £800) and I fancy a bit of geared loveliness. I'm not really clued up on modern stuff but here's what [i think] i fancy.

    carbon
    compact crankset
horizontal top tube (if anyone still does them, i just prefer the look)
shimano kit (again a pointless preference based on very little)

oh and ideally it won't look like a red/black & white advertising hoarding.

hopefully someone on here can point me towards a few possibilities

    thanks

  • Full carbon for £800 with a carbon chainset? Unlikely.

You may get a good deal on an 08 bike.

  • Latest copy of C+ would suggest he only option as the Boardman (although no carbon crank, but good SRAM) and not too bad on the advertising board front. Best bike under £1000 by far in their opinion.
Top tube is fairly flat but not horizontal from memory.

To be honest I have no personal experience with them, but I do want one as my next geared bike.

  • ^

Pretty much the same groupset as my 2007 Allez Elite and better brakes.

  • Kiron Scandium (ahem, not carbon)

Ribble dedacciai nero corsa (ahem, not horizontal TT)

Raleigh Airlight carbon comp (Ahem, not carbon crank)

Kuoto Kharma (Ahem, black, red, and white billboard)
    http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id39160.html

Think you might be asking for a lot for less than a grand. Lots of 2007/2008 bikes on JeJames, I like the Kuoto personally.

  • Carbon horizontal frame? Do they make those?

    Compact chainsets aare so bleeugghh..

Why not get some fancy italian steel?

  • Why not get some fancy italian steel?

Can you get that for £800?
The request was also for carbon which as we know is a much better material for a frame than steel.

    Shite. Here we go.......

If its a bike2work scheme, aren't you resticted to a list of retailers that are part of that scheme?

  • If its a bike2work scheme, aren't you resticted to a list of retailers that are part of that scheme?

Thats what I was thinking, hence the Wiggle, Ribble, and JeJames suggestions.

  • I get asked this question a lot by my colleagues (usually it coincides with our Cycle2Work scheme). I usually give the same recommendation, for the money it's hard to beat Focus and Boardman in terms of value for money.

I thought most were, annoyingly mine is linked only to Evans, not exactly a great choice of decent bikes!

Had to advise a workmate towards a Langster as the Iron Horse was out of stock.

  • I'd get a Mercian for that sort of dosh.

  • my lbs (baker st bikes in brighton) will order in from roberts on cycle to work, i think.

not that that's what you want (or probably in budget), just that you can get some cool stuff with cycle to work if you get creative..

  • I'd get a Mercian for that sort of dosh.

They don't do Ride2Work, you twat.

  • They don't do Ride2Work, you twat.

Ask your friendly local bike shop to buy one in, then re-sell to you via Cycle Scheme then.

  • There goes my gag reflex..

The bike looks crap in the pick, mainly due to shite set up. Still not my cup of tea though.

    £999
