to spok or not to spok, that is the question. apparently velocity deep v seem the popular choice for strength plus looks. i went for phil wood hubs and h plus son rims, not built yet though, waiting on phil spokes...
this may help http://www.londonfgss.com/thread6704.html

H+Sons? Strong? ;)
For a strong, no fuss wheel you can do a lot worse than Mavic Open Pro's.
Get them hand built onto the best sealed bearing hubs you can afford and they will last a long time. -

With Jol regarding rims. Open Pros, are the rims you should judge all others by IMO. I also think double butted spokes good not to forget.
Remember the rear wheel gets a harder time than the front so if your spend money and get a Grand Comp, Goldtec or Phil hub you could run one on the back and something cheaper on the front.
Why not ride your current wheels 'till they're shagged? They're not any heavier than Deep Vs.

i found these on the bay. they are 36h and have a braking surface. Also look nice in polished... do you think they would be any good?
Be carefull... how do you know if they're even round!
:D
Seriously stick to well trodden paths unless you really know what your doing and intend to build them yourself.
Sorry if this sounds patronising.
If you like semi-aero Halo Aeroage are excellent, as are Mavic CXP33

What JOL said, nice hubs and OPEN PROS and you can't go wrong. If you really want the deep V look go for CXP33. For hubs check out the GA2G list and I think he has one for rims too.

Anyone have an opinion on which of these is the better/ best value wheelset?

The planet x wheelset is about as good value as your gonna get (factory built). They are a company with a reputation for value and expertise... and those track hubs are really good.
No need to risk a dodgy eBay listing.

I'd keep clear of all that bankrupt stock on eBay. None of it looks to be of any quality.
I have the PX wheelset and they're amazing value for money.

I´m confused... Are Planet X and On One the same?
-
• #17
Sorry, disregard the above. I just found this...
on-one are clincher, planet x ones are tubular. hubset is the same but with different drilling
on-one come with two lock rings and rim tape. 32h double butted spokes.I´m usually good at searching, but obviously not today...

Do the On Ones fit 700c?

Having hard time putting a used Schwalbe Ultremo on one on one... the tire seems larger than the whole wheel? :)
