What a bag of shite!
Fixed gear merely a scene? This sums it up for me.
"Underground? Started in the 1800s, biggest race in Europe/World ridden fixed, Britain smashed it on the track at the biggest sporting event in the world this year, roadies been training and racing fixed for ooh ever.. and don't get me started with "pastime".. it's my life mofo! :)"

Every year on the IoM about a week before TT, every shop places a nice motorbike in the window.
Some use classics and some use modern superbikes and the shops range from the local chippy/hairdresser to Woolworths (RIP) and Tesco's.Its just advertising, move on.
Philjay - Why worry the guy clearly does unspeakable things to his bike.
-

Fuck it why worry. Amuses me how fashion picks things up, uses and discards them in an instant. Had a kid asked me if I'd heard of Nirvana, almost died of shock when I told him that I'd seen them live and that I saw Metallica when Cliff Burton was alive.
Don't worry though, I'll rescue you from Top Shop. A 38 year old teacher riding a twatster. I'll tell the kids I'm the cutting edge of cool. That'll fuck things up for Top Shop!

So essentially we have just all been verified as the coolest cultural group of the moment by Britain's largest clothing retailer.

100% Cool.

By which I mean.
I feel soiled yet again by the shameless capitalisation of yet another fringe interest group of which I am a part by a huge company for nothing other than a shameless attempt on their part to exploit something which they are in no way contributing to but from which will undoubtedly profit.

People who come to the party late don't loose any authenticity because they're late. Authenticity in a scene is based on how much you enjoy it and what you do with it, not when you started.
Sure, I bet a couple of people have got into fixed wheel bikes because it's trendy, but a fucking load of people (me included) have started out of curiosity and found out they really fucking enjoy it. That's pretty authentic, whenever you started.
If you don't like people co-opting your scene, go ask punks how they feel, or skateboarders.
Also, Philjay, I fucking love that video.
