  • cool it hipster tights, not worth getting angry. go formula/ambrosio whatever they're called. deffo well under 80 a pair. miche are cheap too but i haven't seen many double fixed ones around. better luck if you shop from america.

I am the righteous indignation of hipster wrath. I'm just sick of him really, taints this forum right up.
I only really need a rear right now, but I might try and find me some black goldtec's. I've got formula hubs on now, and they're fine, but I'm looking for a little bit of bling. Dura-ace fix/fix arn't that pricey either.

@Prov - I was about to be all "blah blah it's not relevant", but you're right it's fucking fresh. I would go and toss some knowledge down on there but all my hip-hop is too backpack.

  • Nah, not that many at all it seems. Thanks pal.
Sorry to ask, but no-one in any of the bikeshops in Bath knew of anything, and I couldn't find mention on many of the online stores. This just seemed a pertinent thread to ask on. Will do a little snooping. If you wanted to be a real sweetheart, best buy on that list for under £80? Don't spend any time searching, but if you know?

    @Langster.
Why do you even bother? Yeah, I'm pretty "DUM" apparently. I haven't been cycling seriously for that long, and it's hardly a ridiculous question after the research I've already done. Not everyone has the knowledge of an sponsored rider.
I don't mind getting joshed for not searching or being a novice; but if you could at least be civil or offer even the tiniest shred of advice to people on this forum, maybe you wouldn't be such a hated figure. If you had added a single thing of worth to this place, people might be able to stand you constant barrage of mindless drivel. As you won't even offer the slimmest glimmer of your cycling knowledge to us lowly newcomers, go fuck yourself.

Now thats really not a true comment,I share my cycling knowledge, just ask MikeyMerk who taught him those Keo spins:),but I will share a bit of knowledge with yourself, stay away from cheap hubs,as if you tighten your cogs/lockring to much or simply remove and replace your cog to much, the threads on the hub tends to shear off,and when that happens well your left with a hub paper weight.Never buy cheap hubs or at least a rear.As for Goldtecs,I am running them at the moment, and they are lurvley. Is that helpful enough,Go on another tip then,if your cog does shear off whilst riding & you have no brakes head for the pavement, better to hit a pedestrian rather a lorry.

  • ha, the ped might disagree!

Perfect! Opinion officially improved. If I was in London I'd love someone to teach me Keo Spins. I'm not really a trickster but they look sweet!
Yeah, I've messed some rear formulas recently when skidding and climbing. They would slip in the thread, despite lockring.
Nice, everyone seems to rate Goldtec, and as they do both double fixed and in black, that's what I'm plugging for. Now just to hunt the fucker down at a reasonable price.

Thankfully I run/rock a break, a lockring and incredible levels of caution. But yeah, I'm all for peds not lorries. They might get annoyed, but they're softer than a bumper.

  • You've not answered my question about where the cheap Phil hubs came from ononelangster.. this makes me sad.

  • I will share a bit of knowledge with yourself, stay away from cheap hubs.

eh, there's nothing wrong with cheap hubs, especially the Formula/System EX/etc. one.

  • I'm still running my System-Ex hubs. '000s of miles. They're fine.

  • as long as you fit the cog and lockring properly and look after them, those cheaper hubs are fine.

There's no argument that phils and goldtecs are better/stronger/longer lasting though

Well I ca'nt have making you upset can we.I got the hubs from a pal that works at Holloway cycles, also a nice little deal that I got off of them fellas a Dura Ace crank for only £120.00.Not that popular of a shop, but it tends to be my fav as all the guys in there are super cool and the shop 's never really that busy,so you can have more bartering time with them, and the mechanic there is ACE COON BOON.

  • Bit out of my way but when you find a good shop stick with 'em!

    sob Croydon Cycleworks sob

  • Mmmm. Phil Woods. I miss my black Phil Woods that I have back in the states. In fact, I miss my entire bike. That said. Someone got a cheap-ish 53-54cm track bike they want to sell?

  • I've just experienced a bit of a fuck up...
Whilst in Seattle, I bought a set of Phil's. The shop i bought them from were awesome, but they have made an error...
When i bought them, they said that i could buy them cheaper if they mail them direct to the U.K., and avoid Washington's sales tax, whilst taking advantage of free postage. So i did.
They arrived and they are the frickin' mutts nuts, BUT they're not double fixed. Instead, they are Fix/Free.
No big deal i know, but you reckon there's a shop out there that would swap the rear over? You know, just do a guy a favour and do a straight swap? Do shops like that still exist?
