i destroy my jeans reguarly, i think it due to me riding what they call "on the rivet".
ive given up on wearing expensive jeans like i used to, now i just wear cheap jeans from zara and just buy another pair when they wear through. i dont like the idea disposable clothes as its quite frankly a waste, but with that said it seems silly to buy expensive jeans only to get them repaired constantly. and they never look right after being repaired.

I find hand stitched patches never last and always either come unstitched, or the denim where I've sewn it wears out too. Maybe I just suck at sewing? I don't bother anymore and just buy a new pair.

I dont see cheap jeans being disposable, just common sense to buy a pair of jeans for £3 that will wear out just as quick as a £50 pair.
my last trouser failing was trying to get on sebs bike and burst the crotch! ..bloody clown bike!

My cheap Zara jeans were getting a bit pale and threadbare from cycling. I stepped from one rock to another on the middle of Dartmoor over Christmas and they catastrophically failed. They kind of "exploded" and shredded themselves down to the knee. It was a chilly and embarrassing five miles home (with my parents). Should I complain to H+Son?

i like to cut bike worn jeans to 3/4 length and use the material i've cut off to reline the seat of the jeans, only expense is thread.

I had something similar happen to a pair of gap jeans while playing quazar on a stag night -thankfully the nice lady working there had some safety pins she could give me (after she stopped laughing), that patched things up somewhat for the nights drinking.
Downside was, it was over your side of the pond, and I had no other trews with me (apart from wedding ones!).... learned a valuable lesson that day!

pre-emptive patching works - get one on before they go threadbare...

oh and apparently if you patch the inside as well it's stronger. That may be rubbish though.
Mal fixed a pair of mine. She said she didn't sew in some material but used some kind of iron-on patch thing made for jeans. I've not actually seen or tested the results of this repair effort but I'll let you know if you're still looking for solutions.
