Hi all
John-from Longford, live in Leitrim.Only posting here as Leitrim Fixed scene a bit dead.
Ride 10 miles of deserted country roads to work.Used to live in Dublin,London,Berlin and San Francisco.Rode around all of those places-not fixed tho.Would love to go up to the Smoke for urban type activity-smell of cowshit is gettin a bit samey-gettin all nostalgic for a lungful of bus fumes.any other rural types/culchies out there? -

Oh come on! Lol
Some of the biggst fixed gear scenes and you go fixed now? Fail. -
• #18
That was 15-20 years ago buddy.
Been ridin fixed for 6 or 7 years now, also ride road and off road.Sometimes I even ride single speed for a laugh-suppose thats a fail as well.
I loved city life, etc. back in the day.But very happy livin an ridin in the countryside ,away from those sneering,trendier-than-thou inside-the-pale types...
And sure what would I know about any of that hipster kinda stuff, bein from LD and all. We're all savages down here! -
• #19
Feck sake take it easy!! I was just messing around, I never said anything about it being in any way hipster related or city living related.
I was just saying that it would be more common to get into fixed gear riding in a city with such a high number of fixed gear riders.
There isnt anything wrong with SS either, I would have a SS bike only I cant afford another bike.
And fwi I love riding in the coutryside, most of my family are from Cork, I spend allot of time there and there is nothing like it. I dont mean Cork city either, like back arse of nowhere countryside Cork. -
• #20
OK no worries.Thing is,none of the scene had really taken off when I lived in those places all those years ago.And if it had I probably would have missed it anyway!!
As the scene is predominantly urban-based,my own experience is a bit different. And as for the black arse of nowhere countryside thing - I love it.Its the one of the last things we have left that weve got lots of thats free...
Anyway strop over-didnt mean to get so uptite. -
• #21
Dont worry about it, my post could have been read a couple of ways now that I look at it...
Anyway I havent brought my fixed gear down to Cork yet, have to soon, only thing is that my Dad lives in a pretty big velley...
Suppose HTFU it will be hill training... -

Stein or Lorcans brother, ride a Giant MTB atm(I know)
I'm a feckin' student, so no fixie for me yet, try ride Steins fixie as much as possible,
Currently trying to build myself a bike, commute from The Navan Road to Blanch IT each day
Howya,
a quick introduction to who you are, where you live and your bike or anything you think relevant for us to know would be perfect.
I will start, my names Lorcan, I live in the Dublin 7 area, just outside Cabra.
I started off riding fixed by building an old pug into a fixed wheel, it has a light blue frame, drops and skinwalls. I also recently bought a 2008 Fuji track, if you see me on either just shout.
