i have a length of metal pipe good length and light enough for a mallet shaft, anyone want it?
and there is info of roadworks here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/manchester/travel/roads.shtml - anyone fancy a ride sometime to scope it out and grab some pipe if it's about, if not just get a few jars. i'll bring my junior hacksaw.

Same time again tomorrow?
-
• #33
don't know if i'll be able to make it
is there any reason why we couldn't play on the weekend during the day, for light and temperature reasons? does that court have a timetable of usage or is it just turn up and play?

You've not broken yours have you?
I just made the pipe you gave me into a mallet today - sorry!
I've got myself a pretty good system going now so if we can get some more of the yellow pipe and you use your straight-edge-jig-thing to cut them I can drill and countersink the holes the right size for the poles. They tighten up nice and solid and I've got enough dowel, nuts and bolts to make loads pretty quickly. I can get more ski poles from Decathlon this week.

I've finally got a bike sorted for playing polo and i seriously need to get a mallet sorted out, i've got some piping (32cm long piece of the yellow stuff) if that's enough to get 2 mallet heads out of? then somebody is welcome to have one of them.
Dewi, any chance you can help me get one sorted out if your system is working well...? If you do make a run to Decathlon could you get me a pole i'll refund you for the pole + beers at polo for the help.....

dibs dibs dibs dangeruss. have a bit of metal piping for a shaft if you want to trade?
-
• #45
The mallet I've just made is 16cm so with some straight saw action you could get 2 out of it.
Are you playing next week? I'm sure we can sort something out for then. I can get the poles and meet you to get the pipe. I got some tennis grip from Decathlon for about £3 which works pretty well but I guess you can use what you want.
I cut my pole to 89cm (35") but it can be another 10cm longer if needed but that might be too long.

wayne can i join you on making these? would love to get one done for next week.
if anyone wants a slightly battered old raleigh chiltern to turn into a polo bike then pm me
i think it could be stripped down to something good. i'm collecting it tomorrow, cost me £22, not sure if i have space for it, so if i don't need any of the parts then it's anyone's for £22.

we on for Thursday? I'm back up in M'cr now and feel like having a few introductory matches if people are up for it. I'd need a mallet but don't mind thrashing my bike.
Yep, I had a good time last night. I'm definitely gonna try and come regularly. Gonna hopefully make another mallet this weekend with the Pipe from Voidecare - cheers for that!
See you next week.
