Nice find!
My favourite Cortina has been this one - it's heavily modified and TVR engined:
I just like this picture of the turbo'd beetle:

I don't know if you know, but by definition, a 'feat' is a notable achievement.
there is absolutely nothing notable about the Fiat Panda. It may be perfect, in terms of what you are looking for in a car, but a feat of engineering? take your hand off it..
That would be like comparing the pyramids to a new build apartment in greenwich, because the pyramids would get too hot in the summer.[edit - editing posts to change your original statement is crap, too. note to self - must quote]
actually the pyramids inside is really cool, also the pyramids is far a bigger feat of engineering where every single block of stone fit perfectly, and the weight of the pyramids helped it to lock it all in place, if there's one stone that doesn't fit perfectly, it would be a complete fail.
that a bit of a drastic comparison thought, between a newly build apartment in greenwich and a pyramid, but put it this way, the best feat of engineering would be a supercar that doesn't cost much at all and easy to drive (i.e. no heavy clutch) for everyday use.
it would be fantastic to have a Ferrari that are as easy to maintain and drive as a Fiat Panda, but alias that was not to be.
actually, a better example would be that there's more money being spend in the R&D for the Fiat Panda than a Ferrari.

?
It's been around for quite a while now.
ETA - Yes, you can get a windscreen, doors and a roof, but...why?

when I said everyday use, I meant everyday use, where the hell am I going to carry my MTB down to Surrey for a blast? where can I put the shopping? etc.
great car, not so great for everyone.

Shopping? For everyone?!
Not words usually associated with supercar I think you'll agree.
If that's what you want, go get a 911 Turbo.

what does cost have to do with engineering?

**do you know anyone that maintains their brand new car themselves?
many supercars have been easy to drive for a long time - 911, any merc for example. shit a ferrari has that many computer controlled driver aids that you almost just have to steer.**

oh my mary. how is their F1 team going?
ed, you talk out your arse sometimes

'+1
Except the R&D for Fiat, technically they do everything for the Ferrari F1 team, as well as Fiat's own R&D (umm...high-tech cupholders maybe?)
=P

I just remembered this little car, the Ford Anglia, my friend from school had 1 and we would go all over the place in it, ran on the smell of a oily rag too

Paul, did you make a decision on the STI or Supra?
-
• #1921
anyway, i actually came on because i found a 1998 996 for sale for under 12K - is this the car bargain of the year? (ok, it's high mileage but porsche design their cars to be daily drivers - service intervals of 18K, IIRC) i'm actually tempted by this myself, even although i'm now carless:
here:
Johnny, are you purchasing this? sounds fab as long as you check the service history and I would get it AA checked, if it pans out its a great deal!

Glad there are some other Ginny appreciators.
In hindsight perhaps I should have posted it here rather than the "other" thread :-)
Judging by your previous motors though Bellezza the G4 may lack a bit of power. -

i'd like to - the price has already droped from 13K.........but........i'm living a car free lifestyle at the moment (and enjoying it) so i'm trying to be strong. i think that's just appeared to test me........

Judging by your previous motors though Bellezza the G4 may lack a bit of power.you may be right :) I have to admit I love the power but thats not the only component to true appreciation , often the appreciation is in the aesthetics,at least for me...
