• everyone keeps telling me theyre stronger. i've yet to experience that. i've fucked up two pair of Deep v's, and i've never even thrown my mavic rims out of true.
i just got a pair of DT swiss RR1.2's back from paint and they look amazing, ride even better and are some of the most durable wheels i've ridden. they have a deeper dish and a smoother ride than deep vs.
but like Smith said. nothing wrong if you like cute wheels. i just spent the same price i paid for the wheels getting them painted.
i got the response i expected...

Deep V's actually are weaker laterally than lo profile ones do due to their shape, but they do have increased vertical strength compared to low profile ones, just as a general rule.

don't know what you did to your deep v's, but i've had a pair built to ambrosio hubs for my polo wheels for the past year and a half. they are friggin bomb proof, each has about 20 dents due to hard polo balls, i've ridden with 1-2-3 spokes missing, replaced about 20+ spokes, had hundreds of crashes, dropped of stairs, run straight over curbs.

i like open pro's, but no way are they stronger than deep v's.
