As a true lover of two wheels, I've learned that I need more than one bike for the job.
Get a geared bike, you won't regret it. There are things that you can do with it that would not be nearly as fun on your ss.
If your worried about money, look up old steel frames. Even 531 ten speeds are fairly cheap second hand, and sometimes you can get a bargain.
