My LBS warned me this might happen and suggested it would be "chisel time". Lucky for me it didn't happen :-)
Good luck.

if you take the other side out first there should be no pressure on the plastic cup and it will unscrew easily (depending on thread condition). The cups don't have to be that tight, go easy next time! Good luck.

Ta for the replies, ill give it a go. As for the tightening the cups as i put that wee bit of extra pressure on was thinking you do they need to be tight ?? then....pop and lots of swearing. you live and learn.

I think you mean plastic BB cups !
I bike with a plastic BB shell would be shocking !!! (although Halfords would still stock them)

take some mole grips and you should get enough purchase to get that sucker out, you may need a little bit of wd40 to help.
reinstalling my bb (a shimano one with the plastic left hand shell) and was just giving it a tweak and all the splines ripped off, leaving the shell in but not able to undo, has anyone had the same happen and have trick to get it out bar cutting it out???
I knew i didn't like the plastic when i got it but thought it would be ok :(
