RE: couriering... You could always ask yjdelivery.co.uk if he want's to spread the love further and wider... see if he'll help you get going in Brum with a few tips to getting started. I doubt you'd be seen as a rival, so no reason why he shouldn't be willing to chat things through.
P.s. I don't know the guy though, so can't promise owt would come of you contacting him.
