  • I just got one of these as well after looking at them earlier in the year, at that price it was a bargain.
Had it's maiden voyage yesterday on our annual ride to New Years Wood on 42 x 16 fixed [thats about 71" on the 32C tyres]. Had a tweak of the saddle height and chain tension today centralising the chainring.
Eventually I will change the tyres to 28C and get some 170mm cranks I can't spin on the 175's at the moment, this is my first non-steel bike and I can't beleive how light it feels :D

  • Phone call from Pearson Yesterday to confirm shipping to arrive on Monday. First new bike in three years.

  • lets have a specialized tricross night ride

  • Paul-Michel, I live a stone's throw from you......Catford. We'll have to meet up.

That was a really good deal you got.

Catford - excellent. A great value place to live, even better than Forest Hill.

    Do you commute in everyday?

Hey I live in Catford too, it is a good place - I am on stanstead road.

How far along? I am a stone throw from the road, but up toward the Forest Hill end.

  • Does the version on sale have the upper additional brake levers (link)? These seem to have been standard on the U.S. model (so I understand...correct me if I'm wrong).

  • i'm pretty sure these are an aftermarket addition, you can pick a pair of cross-top levers for about £20 and is pretty easy to add these on.

  • The Tricross they had in London Fields Cycles came with the cross-top levers, so I thought they'd be standard kit.

  • i could well be wrong, i saw one in evans which didnt have them.

  • Mine came with them today and they would appear to be a factory standard feature.

  • Okay, it may be a bargain, but I do have to admit, I am stinking jealous.

Probably the very best and fastest (accelerating) bad weather single-speed/fixed bike there is.

This review shows the weight of the Tricross as 9.57kgs; but since its the geared version, I think half a kilo could be lost in the gears, shifters, and derailleur. This would make the Tricross Single about 9kgs. Pretty good.

  • Thats the sport isnt it?

  • Thats the sport isnt it?

    Nope. The normal Tricross Single.

  • nope its the 2009 singlecross

  • PIMP.

I think I get mine on Friday. Am gaggin for it.

  • Maiden voyage to work this morning was lovely. I concur that the standard gearing is a tad spinney, however, the cross tires were rather good on the sheet ice this morning. They're a bit slow bit I think I'll leave them on until the weather breaks. Give 'em to the gf after that.

Other mods are likely to include ditching the upper brake levers, they're useless dead weight.

How will you brake? Or did you already make it fixed?

  • I'll be making it fixed but it's only the upper levers by the stem that I'll be ditching. My touring bike and road bike both have hood brakes only and I'm so used to using them that I don't think I'll want to get used to using another set of brakes whilst not really needing to use them at all. When I do ride SS, it'll be business as usual.

  • Just so you know what a steal the £275 price is for the Tricross.....here it is being sold for £489!

  • Holy crap that is a good deal...very tempted...would make an excellent commuter replacement...

From the site *"Due to it's bulky nature, delivery for this item will be charged at £19.99 regardless of basket total"

    *Pearson ship for £15.

Perhaps someone should email them and ask if they'll do price matching.

  • I struggled over this one.
I cannot justify another bike, but at this price it seemed just too good to miss.
    So I just ordered one.
Plan is to sell some of my massive collection of bits on flea bay to balance the books.

Just hope Mrs J doesn't notice.

    Toodle pip

    Sounds like a plan, LOL.

Great minds think alike, fools seldom differ, as my mum used to say.
That's how I sold it to the other half too.

I'll get around to selling some time in the future I do suppose.

    te he !

  • If you get in trouble, build it up, wait until the sale is over and flog it on Ebay for a profit.

  • thats what i ride, they do have the chicken leavers on the bars, pretty good bike for work, its worth getting a smaller freewheel / fixed, as you spin out really quickly , about 20mph on the flat.
