I can't fucking stand being talked down to like a child because they presume I can't afford the gear.

As arrogant as it sounds, and I appreciate that it's the nature of capitalism that the workers can't afford the product they're producing (or selling in this case), it does annoy me that I probably earn around 2-3 times what those shop assistants do and they still look down their noses at me. Chanel, Gucci and other 'made for 10p, sold for £1,000' brands hold no appeal for me. While I do wear branded clothes, I don't get the whole conspicuous consumption thing that's gripped the nation.
I know it shouldn't bother me, and I should just resign myself to the fact that if people define their lives by such things then they're not worth me getting worked up about, but when it's the prevailing culture of this country I do find it hard to ignore.
Sorry - that's my soapbox moment for this year. I hope it was worth it.
