When I was a kid it was a real treat to go to London, and Harrods always felt really glamorous. Plus we would then go for Caesar Salad at Bendicks (before it closed) - who did the best ever bitter hot chocolate.
One of the last shopping trips I made with my mother before she passed away was to Harrods, which was a trip down memory lane. Out came all the old stories, how she had to wait at the door for her boss to arrive and give him the newspaper each morning, and if it was raining one of the doormen would shield her with an umbrella.
