I think the UK is the ONLY place you can get decent Fish n Chips, do they still wrap them in newsprint these days? haven't had them in years...never worked out where the mushy peas come into it though?... or the way the English have beans with everything? is there a story behind that?

  • Er... pretty much all of Pakistan enjoys Halwa on toast!

Hmmm, I need to go back to Pakistan then. twitch

    Mushy peas AND gravy, MMmmmmmm!

People don't have beans with everything, only poor people

  • my great uncle who lives in austalia insists on visiting a fish and chip shop on the first day he comes back to Engerland and never goes more than 3 days without having fish and chips when staying over here. he says that fish and chips is crap in australia and the 'pie floaters' they eat are rubbish.

  • I'm bang into Pork at the moment, nearly everytime I go out and it's on the menu I'll have it. Did a lovely roast the other night, pork loin, fuckin marvellous - slow roasted, low heat, moist and honey & mustard crackling! LOVE a good belly pork too, they do a good one in The Crown on some square off Copenhagen St, Islington

Other good place for pork is Konstam at The Prince Albert, Oli Rowe's restaurant - all food sourced from within the M25

they serve beans at alot of takeout places too I noticed, like chicken stores etc...

I still dont see where the peas n gravy connect with fish & chips...

    Yes the story goes,

    Beans Beans,
They are good for your heart,
But the more you eat the more you fart.

    :D

But in all seriousness, it probably because,

    • They are fairly nice.
    • They are cheap.
    • Take about 1-2 minute to cook for 2 people.
    • They are pretty good for you.
    • They can go pretty damn well with potatoes.
    • They go well with Pork, Chicken and Turkey.
    • Cheese with Beans is awesome.

The only thing that could make beans better IMHO is that they came in some chilli ketchup stuff.

  • hear! hear!

  • sexy pasta!

  • Poached egg on toast.
    Grated cheese on top.
Wack under the grill to melt the cheese.

    Cheesy dorras!

  • .

    How very dare you!!?!
Mushy peas, gravy, fish(I prefer a pie tbh) and chips is the business.
