Thanks hippy - it's not been ridden much since I discovered the drive-side had some play in it, but my confusion was that there doesn't seem to be any way to tighten it regardless. The non-drive side is fine (and always has been) and I can't tighten that any more than it already is.
I'd always thought the spindles were meant to be integrated solid on drive-side ofthese GXPs, so I was a bit surprised when I took it out and found I could move it in the crank arm with my fingers.
I guess I'll just run it into the ground whilst I get a new one sorted...
