  • i never said you hate her :)

    stop being pedantic :]

  • stop being pedantic :]

what do i have to do to be taken seriosly here, i wasnt
    my apologies

  • I dont have a daughter either, I was speaking hypothetically...I do however have a god daughter whos 5..

  • Jesus... on the news: "Pandemonium on Chapel St as Paris goes shopping" FFS!

  • And here, for your delectation, is another complete bellend:

  • ^ who is that? scary!

  • Peter Stringfellow. Is famose for owning a strip club.

the pix is now self explanatory , TY

exactly, there's indefinitely no one more useless than her.

  • I'll see you,
    and raise you .

I am going to get flamed for saying this, he is a king cnut but at the same time I can't hate him.

As far as I am concerned he a business man who got it sussed.

  • Good business man, Yes, but do we really need any more truly shit pop acts. How much money does one man really need. Cigarettes have public health warnings so should his record label.

My counter argument would be that the sort of people that like X-factor/Pop Idol and the sort of music that they tend to like is (IMO) shite anyway.

If they enjoy these things, good for them and good for him for exploiting it to its fullest potential.

Compared to a lot of the other tits that have been highlighted, such as Danny Dyer which has made a carreer of glamorising violence in his films such as the football factory and Adulthood, along with his various "hardest men" series.

  • Feeling slightly better about the papers after Paris Hilton got a whack for her gratuitous spending on the front page of our most popular paper (which is a piece of shit)

  • my point is I wouldn't allow her to be exposed to that kind of celeb,

Bellezza, if you had a child you would realise you have absolutely nothing close to the control you allude to here. Children are exposed to all sorts of influences - celebrities or otherwise - that you wouldn't imagine. How would you "not allow her to be exposed to that kind of celeb"? By not allowing her to leave the house, to home educate her, to chaperone her everywhere, to choose her friends for her?

As a parent, all you can do is provide a strong counterbalance and antidote to the things you personally don't approve of, and hope that what you might see as more positive role models and influences have a stronger appeal.

    JMHO

well, I have pretty much sole care of my god daughter...does that count?

you obviously missed my point...Im saying parents are the ones who script a child, some parents prefer a "non" active role in raising their kids, like using the TV as a plug in drug...exposing them to very little then superficial artificial people and images... very little TV content has interesting or education value... its mostly bollocks! that's how I "not allow" her..

Im well aware that you can never full guard against it all and neither would I...but personally, I believe a child's mind is like a sponge- god only knows Im testament to that from watching my own friends and their kids... both good and bad..you need to be the influence surely? at least for the most part...

I dont know about you but Im working on the real things that matter, like exposing her to history, music,art.... not half wit celebrities... she is still her very own individual with her own preferences to her own taste...AND chooses her own friends... funnily... shes never interested in celebs or mindless drivel...in fact, she prefers to draw or play board games or do baking etc..etc... must be doing something right :]

social worker Les Twentyman said Hilton's spree was disgraceful. "It is quite obscene spending money like that. Some people are homeless and thousands of people a week are losing their jobs and it is quite obscene in some ways,"

so ban the manufacture and sale of all luxury goods!

    essential items only for everbody.

    that picture is utterly disturbing...

I didn't miss your point, it wasn't your point I was responding too. It was your statement "I wouldn't allow her to be exposed to that kind of celeb" - which isn't possible or desirable. I'm guessing your point is that, as parents, we should be providing our children with positive experiences and influences since, particularly once they are at school, they pick up on all sorts of stuff from friends/teachers/older kids/other parents/etc. This is what we have no control over, unless we utterly cocoon them, and who would want to do that?

I'm not sure what you mean by **"parents are the ones who script a child" **- it sounds controlling to me, but that could just be your choice of the word "script"? I want my kids to make their own choices, based on the broad range of experiences and influences they have throughout their lives. All I can do is ensure there are some good ones in the mix, and recognise the strength my influence as their father.

I admire you for bringing up your god daughter, that can't be easy - I don't mean that to sound patronising ;)

lol... trust me, its nothing to do with control... scripting meaning... taking a proactive role in what she is learning, watching etc... thats all.. she makes loads of her own choices, as I said, shes her own individual, her own unique self.... :]

thanks, its definitely challenging but equally rewarding...
