If you are planning to ride a SS road bikey, and not go off road you don't want one of those trails frames. Its the wrong geometry, heavier and has V brake mounts. Urgh.
If you are looking to ride SS on the road then look for an old race frame, they'll be drilled at the back and have a place to put your brake cable. If you are looking to ride off road then go for it I guess. However if you are going to ride on the road go fixed over SS. Having started out with a SS myself I can tell you fixed is a damned sight better and cheaper.
