handily it's critical mass on christmas day in 2009....was thinking of hiring a community centre or pub (such as afe we if still available) and making a bikers crimbo dinner and then all riding on mass then back for mulled wine and chritmassy movie after...how ace will that be??!!

that would be quality. best ride I've had for ages, literally no cars and just handful of people about (it was 9am though). A little different from the last few days, town has been mobbed.
Any excuse to show of the bike voidcore :)

I usually do the same but was away this year. Two years back I found myself barreling down Deansgate on my geared bike from top to bottom about 6 times before I had to stop for any traffic - full on sprint mode! Cool it was, the only day of the year you can do it without fear of getting flattened by a taxi or delivery van.
I know everyone likes playing in traffic but me and the missus went out for a ride on xmas day morning and it was mint. Felt like we owned the city, completely deserted. I highly recommend sacking off the family for an hour next year and tearing round the empty streets.
