I use the Sheldon Brown method myself but I have a nagging doubt that, whilst it's undoubtedly effective, it doesn't scream its effectiveness at the average scrotum-brained bike thief, which might lead them to 'have a go' with a hacksaw or pair of bolt crops on your rims, leaving you to come back to a bit of a mess bolted to a bar.
