Reynolds 753 frame - fixed conversion

  • I've acquired a 753 frame that needs stripping and re-finishing. It's going to be ridden fixed, but would it be a crime to remove the 'spare' braze-ons and derailleur hanger? The serial number shows that it's a Raleigh TI frame from the Ilkeston factory. Appreciate your thoughts...

  • Yes. A crime punishable by death in some countries.

I wouldn't since I like keeping most stuff 'as is' but it's not my bike so.. knock yourself out.

  • if you are going to convert it and make it your pride and joy, make it look like you want.

will you ever be tempted to restore it to its geared glory? if not strip away...

do you work for a fortune cookie factory?

It's never going to be restored to geared glory... I like the idea of strip away - just want to be sure I'm not going to destroy part of Raleigh's rich history with one swipe of an angle grinder!

nope just high off my face.
