I wonder if you wouldn't regret NOT following it up, in the future..
I think I would, plus everyone else has to answer for themselves when they make a mistake at work, why shouldn't these officers? it sounds like the main offender is a bully and a coward, not the sort of person who should be protecting the community.

To be completely honest, it was pretty rough experience, I really can't decide whether to follow it up or just forget about it and move on.....I don't really fancy watching myself being "assaulted" on the cctv footage....plus I'm busy and not have limited funds.
Damn ! :(
Completely understandable, no one wants hassle piled on top of what you have already had to put up with, but this is pretty much how these cunts get to do this kind of thing, no one complains, implicit approval and all that.

Winston
Have a butchers at this and the complete site:
http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/index/complaints/how_complaint.htm
Not a way towards compensation but might help stop it happening again to someone else. Also think about writing to your MP/GLA representative.
Give me a shout if you need any help.

Police only have to identify themselves as police at the first available opportunity after apprehending someone.

A police officer has a legal duty to give his name and number if asked for it, if he is the arresting officer he should have gave this at some point whilst your were in custody. He would have to by law give his name and number to the tape during the interview.

I would suggest if you don’t already have it go into any police station and get the incident number for your arrest.

If the arrest was on video and I suggest it is, it is most likely a CCTV operator was watching you on camera and talked the police in. I would request a copy of the footage from the council. By law they have to keep it for 31 days so act quickly as the freedom of information process can take as long as that.

You need to go about getting your DNA removed from the data base, you may have to pay but I would send the receipt to the police and try to get a refund. It would not surprise me if they did not submit the DNA sample after they released you but you won’t know until you try to have it removed. -

How much would this kind of stuff cost? I mean are we talking £20 to proceed or '00s 000s in legal fees? If the latter I can understand not going further but if it's small amounts of cash and a bit of time it might be worth sorting this out (DNA, video) before you lose it all due to waiting too long.
Seems like some pretty harsh treatment and they're gonna get away with it. But it is, of course your call and it's xmas and blah. -

I am willing to put money towards any cost: (if anyone wants to add a fiver or a tenner that would be good too).
1) Tynan £100

I can chip in too, although since westie coppers seem far nicer it won't be £100 ;)

1) Tynan £100
2) Tom £20 (perhaps more)I am sick of the lazy, thuggish, opportunist policing in the UK. While I doubt that this will have any significant change, every little helps.

It should not cost anything.
The recovery of the cctv footage wont cost you.
As for the DNA go to a solicitor and get a 30 min free meeting and explain everything that happened and say you are there to get legal advice on having you DNA removed from the data base he will be able to tell you if he think it is possible and he will also give you some forms to fill out for legal aid.
He may suggest other options open to you and possibly other legal points that you may wish to take up.

Could I have the £120 (possibly more) then? Need a few bits for a bike I'm building.
Oh and hello. First post. -

.... and hopefully your last.

Play nicely now, lets keep an eye on The Bonk rather than sending him packing on his first ever post.

• #115
Why?
God told me to kill first, ask questions later.

Bernie, I was only joking.
I would happily contribute some dosh to see those coppers get what they deserve. -

Apologies Bonk, I misjudged you. I can imagine the torn emotions of the boys involved. 6 months of fighting the machine, to get some semblance of justice, or just shrug and roll away, writing the whole thing off to experience, and wondering what lasting damage could be done by pursuing the injustice. More questions than answers, I am afraid.

i think the bonk first post was fitting, he has clearly been paying attention to the zeitgeist here.
