Pedal to Ground Clearance how much?

Posted on
  • Hi guys,
it was raised on the thread about my recently (almost) completed bike that the pedal/ground clearance was quite minimal,
i thought this too but then i used the original cranks!?
is there an acceptable tolerance, ie x inches,
surely it cant have changed on my bike using stock cranks, all be it the bb was replaced,
    appreciate your input
    dave

  • telling from the size of the frame your stock cranks should be 170mm. most likely you'll find the number on the inside of the arm.
doesn't look like there's going to be any problem with it, dont worry too much, just get out and ride it a bit. serious pedal strike is rare with 170 cranks.
or search the forum on this i'm sure it's been mentioned.

  • look up BB shell height - tommy started the thread. Pretty much everyone is using 165mm cranks (though no doubt someone will swing by shortly claiming that they're running 180mm)
